Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to find.
We take great pride in our Tau Sar Piah, using quality ingredients and our family’s secret recipe. Our wholesome mung bean (tau sar) filling is encased within a beautifully well-layered crust, bringing delight with each bite. We bake daily and handmake each piece as we stay true to our traditional Tau Sar Piah recipe.
Using a combination of different doughs, we strive for a pastry that is baked to a crisp, just precisely buttery and delicate, but yet not oily to the touch.
Our entire range of Tau Sar Piahs are suitable for vegetarians and contain no pork or lard, thereby catering to a wide audience.
Our sweet and salty Tau Sar Piahs are the classic treat, and we also offer a multitude of other enticing Tau Sar Piah flavours. The following are our most popular Tau Sar Piahs, but do come down to our Balestier Road shophouse and see the full range of flavours we have in store!
Salty Tau Sar Piah
We believe the beauty of a Salty Tau Sar Piah lies in its balance. It should be properly salty and not overly so. Furthermore, a gentle lingering sweetness should follow each bite. Our Salty Tau Sar filling strikes a precise balance between sweet and savoury, which with its crumbly texture, beautifully complements the flaky piah layers.

Sweet Tau Sar Piah
Our Sweet Tau Sar filling is smooth and decadent. It is just slightly sweet; we have carefully finetuned our recipe such that it is not overly so. As the Sweet Tau Sar filling melts in your mouth, it seems as though the filling fuses with its well-layered crust and brings a most satisfying mouthfeel.
Black Sesame Tau Sar Piah
Our Black Sesame Tau Sar Piah first draws fans with its slightly chewy filling, unique even amongst our many tau sar piah flavours. Its gentle black sesame fragrance, honeyed nuttiness, and sweet lingering aftertaste makes it a real charmer. We make the black sesame filling ourselves, right from roasting the sesame seeds, to grinding them, and then cooking them into paste. It may be time-consuming, but as one of our most-loved signatures, there is no compromise!

Balestier Road is famous for its Tau Sar Piah. We stand out for our especially flaky pastry and for going beyond the conventional with our range of exciting flavours. Making and baking in our quaint shophouse at 603 Balestier Road, we are amongst the longstanding brands of Balestier Tau Sar Piahs.
Locals love our Tau Sar Piah over tea and coffee, while tourists buy boxes home to share with their loved ones.
With each Tau Sar Piah, we offer you a taste of heritage, lovingly handmade.
